How we helped Oralift with designing their product for manufacture.

In 2004, Nick’s biggest challenge was finding an injection moulding company with the capabilities and experience of producing a dental type of product. Nick needed an Injection Moulding Partner to assist him with the ‘Design for Manufacture’ element, who was suited to his industry, his product, and his product requirements. With the product being like a mouth guard, Nick’s research led him to Paul Norman Plastics Limited, as we manufacture Game Guard gumshields.


The Oralift device was developed by our client, Nick Mohindra a dentist who had pioneered an antiaging treatment achieved by wearing a device fitted over the lower teeth for short periods. 

Prior to working with PNP, Nick was using a dental appliance made in a laboratory, which Dentists had great difficulty fitting.

After the initial consultation meeting, Nick instinctively knew that PNP were the right partner to work with, he immediately struck up a rapport with the team and found us to be “highly skilled and extremely helpful”.

PNP were heavily involved in the early stages of the product development cycle and provided Nick with design and material advice. Nick said, “I felt very daunted by the prospect of designing something from scratch and initially felt quite nervous as I had never worked with a manufacturer before.”

The design advice from PNP has helped Nick to develop a product which is much easier to fit, as such Nick and his team can now market the product directly to the end customer. And an app has been developed to replace the need for Dentist’s support.

After producing Oralift for several years, a surge in demand from Korea meant that Nick needed to vastly increase production from a few hundred to 10,000 units within a few weeks. An increase in production made it necessary for PNP to design and produce a new multi cavity tool and change the base material.
